I have had the fortunate opportunity to witness various acts of heroics from the volunteers of the Orland Volunteer Fire Dept. From structure fires to public assistance calls, they tirelessly answer the publics call for help.
It takes the right kind of person to be able to deal with everything that these guys encounter.
I've worked closely with the OVFD in my job as a reporter. They are among the most professional volunteers I have ever met. I've seen them being goofy and having fun, witnessed their behind-the-scenes efforts in training and organizing events and commitment to protecting the citizens of Orland and rural northern Glenn County. Even if you can't go to the 100th anniversary ball this year, be sure to give a donation. Without our support, they can't keep us safe. Congratulations on blazing through the last 100 years.
Just a few weeks ago the unexpected happened, and the OVFD were the first to respond. I was scared and a little disoriented, but they were great. These are great gentlemen of the community, serving the community. Thanks for everything you do!

Whether it be a fire, accident or medical call, they are there when you call. They are highly trained to handle any situation, so when they arrive on the scene, they can assist without hesitation.
